We use TIS National (the Translating and Interpreting Service), an Australian Government service that connects you with accredited interpreters in more than 150 languages.
TIS National (the Translating and Interpreting Service) is a free interpreter service provided by the Australian Government's Department of Home Affairs.
It connects people who do not speak English with accredited interpreters in more than 150 languages. Interpreters are available 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

You do not need to speak English to call us. You can either:
If you visit a branch and need an interpreter, tell the staff member which language you speak. We will arrange a phone interpreter for you. You do not need to bring your own interpreter.
For more involved conversations such as loan applications, financial hardship, or complaints, we can arrange a pre-booked interpreter call at a time that suits you. Ask any staff member or call us to make a booking.
All TIS National interpreters hold NAATI credentials (National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters) and are bound by a strict Code of Ethics.
They will interpret accurately and honestly, maintain complete confidentiality, and remain impartial at all times.

Is there a cost for the interpreter service?
There is no interpreter cost to you as a member when using TIS National to speak to us.
Can I request a specific language?
Yes. TIS National covers more than 150 languages. Simply tell us which language you need and we will connect you with an available interpreter. For less common languages, a pre-booked appointment may be needed.
Can I get help in a branch?
Yes. Branch staff can arrange a phone interpreter for you.
What if my matter is sensitive or complex?
For complex matters such as financial hardship, complaints, or loan applications, we can pre-book an interpreter call at a scheduled time. Just ask any staff member or call us to arrange this.
