Regional Australia Bank Joins The Scams Awareness Week 2023

Every year, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), in partnership with the Scams Awareness Network (SAN), runs Scams Awareness Week, a crucial campaign to raise awareness about scams and how to stay protected. In 2023, it's a significant year for Scams Awareness Week as it marks the first campaign organised by the National Anti-Scam Centre. At Regional Australia Bank, we're proud to join this important initiative.

Scams Awareness Week 2023: Impersonation Scams

This year, Scams Awareness Week will run from Monday, November 27, 2023, to Friday, December 1, 2023. The theme for this year's campaign is 'Impersonation Scams.' Scammers are becoming increasingly clever, and approximately 80% of all scams reported to Scamwatch involve some form of impersonation of a legitimate entity.

Impersonation scams can take on various forms, where scammers pose as any organisation or brand, making it more important than ever to be vigilant. These scams can arrive through different channels, from emails to phone calls and texts.

Join Us in the Fight Against Scams

Last year, Scams Awareness Week received incredible support from over 350 industry, law enforcement, and government partners. This year, we invite you to stand alongside us in the fight against scams. Here's how you can get involved:

  1. Share Our Message: During Scams Awareness Week, help spread the word by sharing content from our website and social media accounts. Together, we can raise awareness and educate our community about the dangers of scams and how to stay protected.
  2. Start a Conversation: Engage with Your Community. One of the most effective ways to safeguard against investment scams is to start a conversation. Whether you're at home, at work, with friends, or within your family, open up a dialogue about the risks of investment scams. Discuss your experiences, share knowledge, and learn from one another. Encourage everyone to remain vigilant and informed. By starting these conversations, you create a supportive network that's better equipped to recognise and combat scams.

Investment scams often thrive in silence and secrecy. Scammers rely on individuals keeping their experiences hidden, making it easier to continue their fraudulent activities. To combat this, we encourage you to take the initiative and start conversations within your community.

At Regional Australia Bank, we believe in the strength of community and knowledge-sharing. By starting these essential conversations, you not only protect your own financial well-being but also help safeguard the financial security of those you care about. Together, we can build a more secure and informed community, making it harder for scammers to succeed.

Together, We Can Stand Against the Scammers

Join us this Scams Awareness Week as we stand united against impersonation scams. By sharing knowledge and raising awareness, we can help create a safer, more secure digital environment for all. Together, we can withstand against the scammers!
