This helps your issuer know you’re really you, and it better protects you from fraud.
Your Visa card will be pre-enrolled into Verified by Visa so there will be no additional effort for you. Look for this symbol at the checkout.
When you shop online with a participating retailer you may be asked to provide a One Time Password (delivered via SMS) to confirm the transaction. Once you have entered the One Time Password your transaction will be processed as usual. This information is not given to the retailer and assures you, the retailer and to us that your card is not being used without your permission. The information we ask for is only to verify your identity.
