We are seeking a professional with a minimum of 12 months experience in the Financial Services sector and a Cert IV or equivalent in project management.

Position Statement

The Operations Project Manager is responsible for leading a range of concurrent projects and process improvement initiatives for the Operations team, many of which have a significant technical component and broad organisational impact. As such it supports the development and implementation of major software and systems related projects within the organisation and the ongoing optimisation and management of business processes.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Actively manage a range of business and technical projects while maintaining oversight of smaller process improvement initiatives/requirements in the Operations portfolio.

  • Actively support Regional Australia Bank’s project and process management frameworks.

  • Work closely with Regional Australia Bank’s senior management to ensure all organisational projects and process improvement initiatives are accurately scoped, tracked and managed.

  • Provide effective and timely reporting to Regional Australia Bank’s executive and senior management on priority project status, highlighting areas requiring attention using a ‘management by exception’ approach.

  • Liaise with external suppliers and contractors to ensure their role in projects and process improvement is properly scoped and managed with particular attention to financial and time management.

  • Delegate tasks and responsibility to appropriate personnel.

  • Perform staff appraisals set goals and identify training and development requirements for direct reports.

  • Demonstrate commitment to and promotion of a culture of service excellence and continual improvement within the department.

  • Ensure compliance with related departmental policies and procedures, including appropriate controls around change management.

Organisational Compliance

  • Ensure sound operational knowledge of legislative, regulatory and Code of Conduct requirements including (but not limited to), Financial Services Reform Act, Privacy Act, Industry Codes of Practice, e payments, Financial Transactions Reporting Act, Work Health & Safety, Complaint Handling and Dispute Resolution.

  • Ensure a sound knowledge of Regional Australia Bank policies, procedures, products, services and systems to comply within the authorities and restrictions in relation to the duties of this role.

  • Ensure adherence to correct identification procedures and confidentiality of information that conform to the requirements of Regional Australia Bank and the Privacy Act when accessing member details.

  • Ensure the management/supervision of direct reporting staff in accordance with organisational compliance.

  • Staff Supervision, Leadership and Development 

  • Ensure new employees under your supervision receive adequate instruction and support to successfully complete the new employee orientation program within the specified time frame.

  • Ensure employees under your supervision receive appropriate training and have the necessary competencies to perform the functions required in their role through the development and application of annual training plans with their current or new role.

  • Increase staff motivation and morale through effective performance appraisal and career development by training, coaching, providing feedback and integrating reward systems.

Selection Criteria

  1. Minimum 12 months experience in financial services sector;
  2. Well-developed project management skills and experience, including people and resource management skills;
  3. Certificate IV (or equivalent) in project management;
  4. Good experience in the development and implementation of management plans;
  5. Ability to develop procedures and adapt to systems and processes;
  6. Proven ability to make complex decisions
  7. Excellent verbal and written skills and sound interpersonal skills
  8. Well-developed computer skills with demonstrated experience in the Microsoft Office suite of products. 
  9. Ability to analyse and develop solutions to problems
  10. An understanding of risk management principles and practices
  11. Demonstrated detailed knowledge and experience of running large and complex project activities
  12. Demonstrated project management experience or equivalent background
  1. Diploma (or equivalent) in project management;
  2. 2.5+ years’ experience in financial services sector
  3. 3.5+ years project management experience
